Mandolin Gathering 2016
We are getting really excited about our 3rd annual Metamora Mandolin Gathering taking place on March 26th.
We have Scott Napier of the Kentucky School of Bluegrass and Traditional Music and the Lost and Found Bluegrass Band coming to teach. Scott has a long career in the Bluegrass world and is an exciting addition to our event.
Caleb Edwards, a Metamora native, is currently a working musician in Nashville TN with the Fireball Mail and Copperheads bands. He'll be teaching a session on improvising.
John D. Gates from Columbus, IN has been around the bluegrass scene in our region for years. He used to play at our Metamora Music Festival as part of the Deep Fryed Acousticblasters and conducted workshops for us then. He now plays with the New Augusta Bluegrass Band, The Friends of Bluegrass, and the Kerosene Cucumbers. He'll be holding a session on Bluegrass/Monroe Style.
John Bowyer, now hanging out in Brown Co. IN, is a huge supporter of the Metamora music scene and has played at many events through the years. He is currently part of the duo The Hammer & The Hatchet and plays with the band The Punkin Holler Boys. He'll be discussing Finding the Melody.
This year we've priced each workshop individually, as well as offering a full day price. There is a page you can reach from the website, or from our facebook page, that can be used to sign up on line. From now until Feb 29 the full day price will be a smoking bargain at $75. From Mar 1 to Mar 14 the price will go to $85. After that, including the day of the event, it will be $95. A full day meal plan can be bought for $20, or food can be purchased on site a la carte.
We would encourage the general public to plan to come at 5 PM and enjoy dinner and the music of The Hammer & the Hatchet. Then at 6:30 we'll start the evening show featuring all the instructors. General admission for the dinner and the show is a donation of $6, plus the cost of your meal if you choose to dine with us.
